Packing Protein
Did you know that in a recent study by the US Deptartment of Agriculture that up to one third of women between the ages of 20-40 do not get the recommended amount of proteins in their diet. High protein foods take more work to digest, metabolize and use which means we actually burn more calories processing the protein. Protein stays in your tummy longer, so you can actually feel fuller longer, so if you are watching your weight, feeling fuller longer is a good thing. Nutrition Metabolism published a study stating dieters who increased their proteins, ate nearly 450 less calories and lost 12 pounds over 12 weeks without any other changes to their routines. All proteins are not the same, and the study noted that a complete protein, or proteins that contain all nine amino acids, build lean muscle. Some of the best choices are skinless chicken breast, seafood and lean beef and pork and of course eggs. Vegetarians need to be more creative with grains such as brown rice, or quinoa and buckwheat. Arbonne has ready made or protein powder which is vegan, so another great choice for those who prefer to stay away from animal proteins Both choices of protein shakes come in both vanilla and chocolate. Filling and tasty, and a great option for packing the protein.
