Are your cosmetics in the Danger Zone?

Each day we place thousands of chemicals in and on our bodies. Just getting ready for work alone we use shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, toothpaste, face wash, face cream, body cream, hair products, makeup and to top it off like a cherry on a large sundae, perfume. The majority of our products come from the pharmacy where the products are well known brands and to our knowledge, trusted. Shockingly companies are able to use virtually any ingredient they would like. Why you may ask? According to Safe Cosmetics database, the U.S government does not review product safety prior to them being sold. How is this possible? Simple, with loopholes in the FDA. “Because of loopholes in current federal law, the cosmetics industry in the United States is essentially unregulated, with companies able to put virtually any ingredient into their products regardless of its health consequences.” (BreastCancerFund.org)

Today we need to become more aware of what we put on our bodies, especially because 80% of what is placed on our bodies is absorbed. Chemicals trigger unnatural reactions, infections and can lead to many cancers. Using prevention today will save us tomorrow. Educate yourself prior to purchasing products and opt for the less traditional ingredients such as avocado oil, bamboo extract, birch leaf extract and black raspberry seed oil. It is in our power to change how we view what is placed on our bodies and start fresh with a clean, natural and most important healthy approach to purchasing everyday products.
