Fall into great health!

Autumn is abound when we feel the cool crisp air, revel in the beauty of colorful leaves scattered across the lawns and warm apple pie baking in oven.   With all the beauties of fall also comes the comfort foods that our appetites crave and our bodies despise.
According to the American Heart Association, if the current obesity trend growth continues, by the year 2030 the total health care costs associated with obesity will account to anywhere from $861 to $857 billion dollars.  http://www.heart.org/idc/groups/heart-public/@wcm/@sop/@smd/documents/downloadable/ucm_319588.pdf
Where does Arbonne fit into this equation?
As a wellness coach it is my passion to bring you the latest research, products and information to support a healthy, beautiful lifestyle.  Enjoy Fall this year without getting ready for hibernation with these five health changes you can make today.
1.     Timing is everything.  Ever notice how we crave sweets and junk food at night when we have been sitting for a greater portion of the day?  Eating while you are active will allow your body to burn off the calories, fats and other ingredients that make junk food…well let's face it, junk.  Give your body a chance to burn off those unwanted calories by eating high-calorie foods prior to jumping into sweats and laying on the couch.  A key to feeling fit is incorporating one of Arbonne’s products to help boost metabolism.http://www.arbonne.com/HealthAndWellness/ArbonneEssentials/Products/index.asp

2.     Catch more z’s with less fat.  Researchers from the University of Minnesota and Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis, found that extended periods of consuming a high fat diet will affect the quality of your sleep.  Change your diet by reducing high caloriec foods so you can embrace a full nights sleep and feel totally refreshed in the morning. Completely unwind with aroma therapy lotion before bedtime. http://www.arbonne.com/products/aromatherapy/unwind/lotion.asp

3.     Tiny Tiny Pieces = Less Consumption. Remember back to your childhood days when you were given a plate of tiny pieces of cut up dinner and it looked like a feast? This is the exact same concept.  Instead of just eating a piece of chicken, cut it into tiny slices.  This will trick your eyes, mind and stomach into thinking that you have more to eat, resulting in feeling satisfied before the second helping. An idea on the go snack includes Arbonne Fit Chews.  They are bite size treats to help control cravings while keeping energy levels sustained. http://www.arbonne.com/HealthAndWellness/ArbonneEssentials/Products/index.asp

4.     Fasting is proven not to work.  We hear it all the time, “I am going on a diet and only consuming liquids for 3 months” or “I need to lose weight fast so I am opting out of lunches”.  Research has shown that you actually GAIN weight when you skip meals. Talk about going the opposite direction than what you planned.  Eat throughout the day with healthy meals instead of fasting or skipping meals.

5.     Surround yourself with healthy alternatives. You come home from work famished yet it is not time for dinner, so you graze through the cabinets and see chips, cookies, chocolate and crackers.  Help yourself eat healthier by stocking your kitchen with healthy snacks such as fruits, vegetables, peanut butter and rice cakes.

Comfort food can still be a part of fall if you know how to balance your cheat days with a healthy lifestyle.
